silk smitha returns

Remember Silk Smitha? No one could have forgotten the sex siren of South India, who dominated the eighties. Her tragic end – she committed suicide – too is still lingering in the minds of her fans.

Silk Smitha, who made a sound start with ‘Vandi Chakaram’, won acclaims for her performance in films like ‘Moondram Pirai’ and ‘Kozhi Koovuthu’. Though she proved herself as a good actor in these films, it was her appearance in item numbers that shot her into incredible fame. There was a time when virtually every film had her dancing number.

The girl’s slim and sleek figure and her dancing skills made her stand out from the other glam ‘girls’, who were threatening the audiences with their bulky figures. Smitha, fondly called as ‘Silukku’, became an icon of South Indian sex symbol.

The actress, who had an illustrious career, is now back with the film ‘Thanga Thaamarai’, which was her last film. This film was lying in the cans for a long time. Efforts are taken to release the film now.

Almost after a decade after her death, her fans can expect to see the adorable actress back on screen.
