Theatre plays a role

Silambarasan’s 'Silambattam' is on the initial stage but its director is in search of a theatre. Saravanan needs a theatre to tell his story on screen. The story has a theatre as one its strong components.

While writing the story, Saravanan had Virugambakkam National theatre, located in the outskirts of Chennai, in his mind. But before he could approach the owners of the hall, Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has purchased the theatre and started constructing a shopping complex in the place.

Disappointed Saravanan looked for other cinema halls and finally settled for the one located in Visagapattinam.

Mirugam: A sigh of relief

The sensation surrounding 'Mirugam', right from the slapping incident, continues till its release. After getting the nod from the censor board, the movie was in for a shock, which came in the form of a notice served by Blue Cross.

The organization that works for the welfare of the animals has objected to the Jallikkattu (Bull fight) scene in the film. Blue Cross sent a notice to the censor board demanding to stall the release of the film.

The unit was shocked. It had already got the oral clearance from the censor board and announced the release date. The board has withheld issuing the certificate following the receipt of the notice.

Director Samy was simply shattered, as he did not expect such a predicament at the last moment. Finally he accepted to cut the Jallikkattu shot and the Blue Cross immediately withdrew the notice.

Then the censor board issued the certificate and the movie is opening on December 14 as planned. Samy and the unit are now happy and eagerly awaiting he results of the movie.

Meanwhile, an encouraging development took place for the 'Mirugam' team. Vijay – Shriya starrer 'Azhagiya Thamil Magan', which was running four shows in Udhayam theatre, in Chennai, has been reduced to a single show and the three shows have been allotted to 'Mirugam'.

This, the unit feels, is a sign of success.

KB and Bharathiraja acting together

The veteran directors K. Balachandar and Bharathiraja are acting in a film. Thamira, who has been working as a dialogue writer in Balachandar’s unit has narrated a story to both of them and got their nod to act in the film. He has impressed them by creating the characters that suit them perfectly.

Thamira has now approached a leading production company to produce the project.

It is worth recalling that Thamira, who had been working as an assistant director, approached Kavithalaya to narrate a story. But KB was impressed with his dialogue writing skills and made him write dialogues for his serial 'Anni'. Thamira also penned the dialogues for 'Poi', directed by Balachandar. But he couldn’t get a chance to direct a film under Kavithalaya banner.

Now that he has impressed two veterans with his story, he is more likely to get a producer and get his dream - to become a director - fulfilled soon.

Silambarasan’s brother makes debut

Vijaya T. Rajender is all set to launch his second son in the tinsel town. It was he who provided the launch pad for Silambarasan, who is now one of the hottest young heroes of Kollywood.

Now TR is launching his second son Kuralarasan in 'Karuppanin Kadhali'. TR directs the film, which is produced by Pyramid Saimeera.

TR is planning to hit the market with his twin products. Apart from 'Karuppanin Kadhali’, he is making 'Kallori Naatkal’. Hero? It is none other than TR himself. The movie is produced by Lakshami Movie Makers, who produces Silambarasan’s forthcoming movie 'Silambattam'. TR has planned to direct both the projects simultaneously.

Here is wishing Kuralarasan a great launch and a successful career.

'Chakkara Viyugam' is ready for release

The controversies surrounding 'Chakkara Viyugam' are over and the movie is ready for release. The movie, jointly produced by Sri Ashta Vinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and Nataraja Arts Company, was struggling under many troubles and hiccups right from the beginning. The latest one was the tussle between the director and the heroine.

It was all about non co-operation. Director Udhayabanu Maheshwaran accused heroine Daisy Bopanna of non co-operation and Daisy, in turn, hit back with the same complint. She had listed charges against the producer Natraj as well.

Now, both have come down from their respective positions keeping the larger interest of the project in mind. The dispute has been settled, as the warring parties have assured not to repeat the allegations. The shooting, that took place in Chennai, Kolkata and Kochin, is now complete and the film is gearing up to be released soon.

Karthik Raja has composed the songs to the lyrics of Snehan. Super Subbarayan and Santhi Srihari have taken care of stunt and dance aspects respectively. Cinematography is by Dwarakanath while K.K. Ravi is the associate director.

The lead actors are Natraj, Jayasurya, Daisy Bopanna and Maliska. Udhayabanu Maheshwaran has written the story, screenplay and dialogue besides directing the film.

'Billa' making a huge business

'Billa' is definitely the most sought after project in recent times. Ananda Pictures has sold the film to Aingaran International for a sizable amount. Aingaran initially planned to release the film on its own but somehow changed its mind and sold the distribution rights to Pyramid Saimeera with a profit of some crores.

Pyramid releases the film in more than 200 theatres with 176 film prints and around 50 digital prints. It also arranges a special premiere for the film. The profit of the premiere will go for the trust of a famous religious leader. The tickets meant for the VVIPs are praised at astonishing rates. It is rumoured that a ticket costs some thousands.

'Billa' is really making big money.

Raj Kiran: Anti climax?

Raj Kiran is donning a very important role in 'Pagadai'. He was very much impressed with the story narrated by debutant director Rakmohan and hence accepted to act in the movie.

However, the movie, which was launched as a bilingual project (Tamil and Telugu), is now stalled. Reason? The climax!

The movie has a newcomer acting in an important role. Producer J. Karthigeyan wants the climax be made around this actor, while the original climax, conceived by the director is centered on Raj Kiran. The producer pressurizes to change it but the director is not ready to relent.

Now the producer has gone a step further. He refuses to release funds to shoot the climax. The director is stubborn in his choice. As a result, the film is stalled.

The tussle over the climax has turned out to be an anti climax for Raj Kiran. He has met with a twin trouble. His film gets delayed and the payment for his work is yet to be settled.

Quite sad, indeed.

A film on coastal life

We have been seeing cinematographers turning directors. Here is one who turns producer. Raj Preeth, who has been the cameraman in many hit movies, has now entered into production. He produces 'Alaiyodu Vilaiyaadu', with newcomer Vijayan and 'Thoothukudi' fame Karthiga playing the lead roles.

True to its title, 'Alaiyodu Vilaiyaadu' is all about the life of the fishermen who are living with the waves through out their lives.

Sevalai is a young fisherman, for whom romance is a luxury. The tough man leads a life full of struggle. All that he knows is to work hard.

Kavitha enters as a gentle breeze in his life. Her presence makes sea of change in the character of Sevalai. He struggles to cope up with this unique feeling, which is new to him.

The relationship between Kavitha and Sevalai, played by Vijayan and Karthiga, is told in the backdrop of the coastal life.

The film has Manivannan, Ponvannan, Roshini, Jenny Jasmine (sister of Meera Jasmine), O.A.K. Sundar, 'Mahanadhi' Shankar, Muthukkalai, and Nellai Siva play important roles.

K. Raghavan handles the story, dialogues, and direction. Raj Preeth takes care of cinematography, while Sabesh Murali does the music.

The shooting is going on in a single schedule in the coastal areas of Kanyakumari district.

Srikanth’s anxiety

Srikanth, on his comeback trail, is working meticulously to make his forthcoming venture 'Ettappan' a success. The shooting is in progress in Ooty. The young hero has gone to Ooty with his wife Vandana.

After a lot of failed attempts, Srikanth has almost given up his efforts to bring out 'Sathurangam', directed by Karu. Pazhaniappan. The director, however, hasn’t given up his hopes. He is trying his best to release the film.

Recently he has shown the movie to a rich lady in Prasad Deluxe theatre. The lady is yet to decide anything about the movie. Srikanth is in touch with Pazhaniappan to get updated about the developments.

Meanwhile, 'Veeramum Eramum' fame Sanjay Ram has narrated a story to Srikanth. He is impressed with the story and has given his nod. Sanjay Ram will commence this project after finishing his current project 'Sethu Samudram'.

Jeevan in search of heroine

The young and upcoming young hero Jeevan is facing a peculiar problem. The hero, who has got to act with five different heroines in 'Naan Avanillai', is struggling to get a single heroine for his movie titled 'Payanigal Kavanathirku'.

Jeevan has been giving hits and hence the recent setback in 'Machaakkaran' hasn’t affected his market. The villain turned hero touched one crore mark and looking ahead with confidence.

But Vijayakumar, the director of 'Payanigal Kavanathirku' is finding it tough to find a heroine to act opposite Jeevan. He has approached all the leading actresses including Trisha, Nayantara, and Shriya to act opposite Jeevan. All of them have turned down the offer saying that they are busy for the next one year. Even Bhavana, who is not that busy, has refused to act in the project.

Vijayakumar is continuing his hunt for the heroine for 'Payanigal Kavanathirku', a film with a budget of Rs. 5.5 crore. Meanwhile, Jeevan is busy with his on going project 'Thotta' with Priyamani.

Sneha to kiss on screen

Sneha, who has been hesitating to act in kissing scenes, has at last given up her resistance. She has agreed to the request of director Karu Pazhaniappan and acted in a kissing scene for her forthcoming film 'Pirivom Santhipom'.

It is worth recalling that Sneha even refused to kiss in Kamal Haasan’s 'Vasool Raja MBBS'. Hence, the 'kissing' in the film took place behind a tree!

It is equally embarrassing for the hero Cheran, who was on the 'receiving' end. The director cum actor has never acted in intimate love scenes. Since he doesn’t have any dreams of becoming a romantic or action hero, he is not acting in sensual and stunt scenes. However, director Pazhaniappan convinced him that the story demanded such scene and he obliged.

If the sequence is so powerful that it has made the reluctant kissers give in, then it must be something special!

Big B in Thankar Bachan’s film?

The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Thankar Bachan is all set to direct the mega star of India. He is believed to have roped in Amitabh Bachchan to act in his forthcoming film.

According to the sources, he has already narrated the story to the star and the later is said to be impressed with the story. Sathyaraj too will act in the film.

The film will be based on a unique friendship between a north Indian (played by Amitabh) and a Tamilian (Sathyaraj). The movie tries to portray the depth of the friendship.

Though Amitabh is involved in the project, Thankar is not planning to make it a bilingual project. But he has an idea of releasing the dubbed version in Hindi.

Other details including the choice of actresses, producer, and music director are expected to be announced in the function to be held to celebrate the victory of 'Onbathu Ropai Nottu'.

Truce between Ajith and A.M Rathnam

Ajith has changed his decision not to act in A.M. Rathnam’s films. The buzz is that Shankar - Ajith combination will be produced by none other than Rathnam under the banner of Surya Movies.

It may be recalled that following Shah Rukh Khan’s withdrawal from Shankar’s dream project 'Robot', it was said that Ajith would play the lead role. Though the official announcement is yet to be made, it is almost certain since neither Shankar nor Ajith has denied the news.

Rathnam is aiming to get rid of the financial burden through the announcement of this mega project. If the news is confirmed, it would be a token of gratitude by Shankar to Rathnam, who produced his Indian.

By the way, for those who would be curious to know what made Ajith to take such a decision - not to act in Rathnam’s production – here is a flashback: Ajith stood by the employees during a clash between the producers & directors and Fefsi (Film Employees Federation of South India) during June-July 1997. Rathnam was irked by Ajith’s stand and demanded him to give back the advance amount given to him for a project. Ajith immediately returned the amount and took a decision not to act in Rathnam’s film in future.

Now a decade has gone by and a truce has been made between the two. The announcement of the project involving Shankar, Ajith, and Rathnam is expected to be made on Pongal.

Aingaran plans big for 2008

Aingaran International has planned to produce five films in 2008. The first one will be Ajith starer film, directed by Raju Sundaram. Vishnuvardhan will direct a film featuring Arjun and Arya in the lead roles.

The other films are by Jananathan and Vasantha Balan. While Jananathan has roped in Jayam Ravi, Vasantha Balan of Veyil fame plans to rope in new faces.

The announcement of the next film will be made soon.

Shooting in Tsunami hit areas

'Kangalum Kavipaduthey' has been shot widely in Chennai, Karaikkaal and the neighbouring places like Tiruvidaimarudoor, Tirukalanjeri, Paalur and Sankaranpandal. The most notable aspect in the shooting is that the shooting took place only where the story demanded.

All the above-mentioned places in and around Karaikkaal were devastated by the 2005 Tsunami waves. With most of the landscape in these areas having been swept away by those tidal waves, the Director has managed to capture the agony too in his frames.

'Kangalum Kavipaduthey' tells you the love affair between three couples in a novel way and in an altogether different dimension.

Vishal to fight in Rayapuram

You can spot Vishal beating the goons in Royapuram during 11th and 12th of December. Stunt master Selvam has gathered a lot of dangerous goons (stunt actors, of course) in Royapuram to be beaten up by the hero.

The coastal side of Royapuram has become one of the regular spots for the stunt scenes in Tamil films. Super Subbarayan, who belonged to the area, has started the trend and it has been followed by many stunt masters.

Vishal is shooting for his forthcoming film 'Sathyam'. The young hero is donning the role of a dutiful cop for the first time.

A calculative move!

When every assistant director dreams to become a director, here is a director, who has demoted himself as an assistant director. Nanda Periyasamy, who directed Arya – Sonia Agarwal starrer 'Oru Kalloriyin Kadhai', has stepped down as an assistant director in Yogi, featuring director Ameer as hero.

Reason? Ameer is planning to continue his romance with acting if ‘Yogi’ becomes a hit. He has agreed to act under Nanda Periyasamy’s direction after completing Yogi. That is the reason why Nanda has agreed to work as an assistant director in 'Yogi'.

It may be recalled that Nanda Periasamy and Lingusamy were staying in the same room before getting a break in the field. Lingusamy got the break first and he called Periasamy to work as an assistant. Periyasamy, with the confidence of becoming a director soon, politely refused the offer. Then he got to direct 'Oru Kalloriyin Kadhai'.

Now a promise by Ameer has made him an assistant director to Subramaniya Siva, the director of 'Yogi'. Will this calculative move pay off? Well. Anything could happen in the dream industry.

Karunas' demand to director Ram

It is a tragedy for the comedian. Karunas, one of the leading comedians, bought the distribution rights of Jeeva starrer 'Katrathu Tamizh', by debutant director Ram. It is believed that he took such a decision on the advice of the director himself. Karunas was anyway, much impressed by the outcome of the movie and like everyone in the unit, predicted a hit.

But the film turned out to be a loser despite receiving some positive reviews. Now Karunas, who procured the distribution rights for a sizable amount, now finds himself on the losing end. It is said that he has lost around Rs.75 Lakhs.

Karunas is believed to have demanded Ram to compensate the loss. He has also given him another choice. The comedian with acting skills has asked the director to make a film featuring him in the lead role.

There is no news whether Ram has accepted the demand. If he does, Karunas will join Vadivelu, Vivek and Senthil as comedian-hero artiste.

Jayam Ravi Vs Jayam Ravi

In an unexpected turn of events, the young hero Jayam Ravi could find two of his films completing with each other. His 'Dhaam Dhoom' and 'Santhosh Subramaniam' are ready for Pongal release.

Though Ravi’s choice for Pongal is 'Santhosh Subramaniam', the 'Dhaam Dhoom' unit is very particular in bringing out the movie on Pongal day. The movie, the unit members say, is already delayed because of the sudden death of its director Jeeva. Further delay would prove to be too costly to bear with, they argue.

Jayam Ravi circle, however, doesn’t like his films competing with each other and hence putting pressure on 'Dhaam Dhoom' unit to postpone the release. The unit however, is unrelenting. It has now taken the issue before Producers’ Council.

The council will decide as to which film would come first

Hari, Vijay, and Arun Vijay

Hari is one of the busiest directors these days. He takes up a new project as soon as he finishes one. After 'Vel', he is now shaping the story for a film that has Bharath in the lead role.

The rumour mills are busy churning out stories that Hari will direct a film featuring Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay as hero. When asked about this Hari simply shrugs off. “I haven’t even met Vijay yet. No efforts have been made in this regard so far. I don’t know from where these gossips generate” was his response.

Why can’t Hari, known for his skills to make a hit movie, give a hit movie to his brother-in-law Arun Vijay, who is struggling to take off? “That will happen soon”, replied the director.

So, will Hari be directing Arun Vijay before Vijay?

Super Star will have a calm birthday

It may be an occasion for celebrations. But the Super Star, who has reached the towering heights of film world and remains there for decades, has decided to have a quiet birthday.

The evergreen star, basking under the glory of unprecedented success of his latest film 'Sivaji', is in no mood to go for grand celebrations to mark his 57th Birthday on Wednesday, the 12th of December.

Millions of his fans across the state are gearing up to celebrate the birthday as a carnival but the star wants it to be a quiet one. He will, most probably, be out of town, the sources say. It is not his habit to meet his fans on the birthday and this year too will be no different.

However, his fans have planned it in a big way. They have more reasons to do so. 'Sivaji' will complete 200 days in over 50 theatres next week. So, the fans feel, this is a special birthday.

Rajinifans.com, a portal dedicated to the fans of the Super Star will carry out many welfare activities around the world. The portal, according to the official announcement, has organized a grand function and a music night in Dubai and Malaysia.

In Tamil Nadu, fan clubs plan to celebrate the day by distributing sweets, performing special prayers at temples and churches and undertaking various philanthropic activities like donating blood and providing food to orphanages.

Rajinifans.com has planned to provide meals to all the students of an orphanage in Anna Nagar. Many of the fans would donate their blood. The portal has also decided to provide water tanks to four schools in Courtalam in Tenkasi district. All these glittering events will go on while the Super Star will celebrate his birthday in calm.

IndiaGlitz would like to convey its heartiest wishes to the star on the occasion. We present a very special package that contains rare visuals, detailed audio-visual account of his illustrious career, exclusive interviews of the celebrities on the him, and an exciting contest for his fans.

Awesome Bheemaa: First look at the trailer

The trailer of Vikram – Trisha starrer 'Bheemaa' is released.

'Bheemaa' the powerful man, rocks like a storm. The trailer that runs for nearly two minutes shows the heavy weights of the film – Vikram, Prakash Raj, Raghuvaran and Ashish Vidyarthi.

Amidst these storm troopers there is a gentle breeze in the form of cute Trisha.

The trailer shows some stunning stunts by Vikram. The man looks amazingly different. His eyes and body language show the character. The character with strong body and stronger mind.

The stunts may be dazzling. But more intense fight seems be happening between the two powerful minds. The minds of Prakash Raj and Vikram.

There is also Raghuvaran to add the emotional weight. The shot showing Ashish Vidyartih promises more spice and dimensions of the clash. The charming Trisha seems to be the lone factor that acts as a balancing aspect of the film filled with intensity and power.

The trailer also suggests that the air is cleared for the release of 'Bheemaa'. The movie is all set to hit the halls on Pongal.

IndiaGlitz brings you the first glimpses of 'Bheemaa'. Stay tuned here to get more on 'Bheemaa'.

Keerthi is on cloud nine

Keerthi Chawla, the heroine of 'Uliyin Osai', based on Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi’s story, is on cloud nine. She has received complements from the Chief Minister for her performance in the film.

The first schedule of the movie – 15 days of shooting – is over and the scenes shot in the schedule were screened to the CM. It is said that the CM is quite impressed with the way the project is shaping up.

Kalaignar praised Keerthi Chawla’s performance when the actress met him to get his blessings for her birthday (on Dec 9). He also asked her whether she could speak his dialogues without much problem. The lass replied that the dialogues were not like the usual stuff and hence challenging. However, the actress added, she was putting in extra efforts to render them perfectly.

CM was kind enough to enquire about her background. After knowing that the girl had come from Punjab, he recalled his experience with Punjab during his visit to the state.

Keerthi could not control her happiness over the complements by the Chief Minister. She is confident of coming out with a special performance in the film.

The grandpa is on a roll

Veteran director Bharathiraja has celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary in a grand manner. He hosted a party in a star hotel to his close friends. The reason for the jubilant mood is the fact that he has become a grandpa.

The grandpa is in a rejuvenated mood. Following his much awaited 'Bommalattam', he has planned to start his next venture soon. Kutra Paramparai will revolve around the erstwhile warier community. It would portray the ups and downs of the community.

“The story is set in British period. Kamal will be the apt choice for the lead role. If he doesn’t act, I’ll do the role”, says the director majestically.

Sandhya turns singer

Anybody who had got the chance to view the program in Sun TV last month that had cine stars singing songs would not have forgotten Sandhya’s amazing singing skills.

Her crooning talents are recognized by a music director and the heroine has been given a chance to sing a song in 'Manjal Veyyil', in which she plays the lead role. Music director Bharadwaj has sung the song along with her.

The songs set to tunes by Bharadwaj have been good. Director Raaja is so impressed by the tunes and honored the music director by conferring him the title ‘Isai Thenral’ (the gentle breeze of musical). The honor was announced by Super Good Films R.B. Chowdry on behalf of Raaja on the occasion of the audio launch of the film, held last month.

Indiralogathil Shriya: how it happened?

Vadivelu, who is donning three different roles in 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan', had explained the press about how they got the hot girl Shriya dancing for a single song in the movie.

According to him, the producer Manikkam Narrayanan approached Shriya to appear in the song and the heroine obliged. It was purely a professional decision by the actress, Vadivelu added.

Vadivelu told this to the Internet and TV channels whom the team of Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan met following the audio launch function. The meet took place in the producer’s (Seventh Channel) office.

He also reflected upon the hue and cry raised by a section of the industry over the news. “I heard that hundreds of phone calls were exchanged between various circles after the news came out. Most of them could not believe the news. I also heard that some had lost their sleep. They could not digest a girl like Shriya dancing with me”, said the comedian with his typical modulations.

“Mind you, she has not acted as my pair. It was just a single song”, added Vadivelu. He recalled that K.R. Vijaya, who had acted with the likes of MGR and Sivaji Ganesan, also acted with Nagesh as his pair. “This is a profession and we are here to work. Why so much of fuss is being made over this is something I could not understand”.

He also informed the media persons that he had asked Shriya about her decision to dance with him. The most sought after girl replied that she was his ardent fan and hence took it as an opportunity to act with him.

Vadivelu appreciated Shriya for her guts to defy the so called rules of Kollywood, which discourage the leading heroines to do an item number with a comedian.

Aayirathil Oruvan: cold and hot

Director Selvaraghavan is making the whole team of 'Aayirathil Oruvan' shivering. No, they don’t fear the captain of the ship. They are shivering in cold.

The first schedule of the shooting was held in the jungles of Moonaru. Everyone including Paruthi Veeran Karthi, Reema Sen, and Andrea were shivering under the cold and awaiting the day to return home.

Now Selvarasghavan is planning to put them under the scorching sun in Rajastan Deserts. He has planned to shoot a song and a few scenes in the deserts.

'Aayirathil Oruvan' is Karthi’s second film following his successful maiden venture Paruthi Veeran. 45 days of shooting is completed and the next schedule is expected to begin soon.

Another music director turns singer

Vijay Antony, the music director of 'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' has sung a song in the film. Vijay sang the song 'Kadavul Pataitha Azhagi' for the track. Later, director P.V. Prakash decided to have the song in Vijay’s voice, as he felt that the voice fitted perfectly to the tone of the song.

It is none other than the director himself who had written the song. Young lyricist Thamarai has penned the lyrics for the other songs.

'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' is an action-romantic set in the backdrop of a campus.

The film has Nakulan (Boys fame) and Sunena, a Telugu actress, as the lead pair. Sunena is making her debut in Tamil.

'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' is expected to be released on Pongal.

Gemini Lab enters into production

Gemini Lab is all set to enter into the world of film production. The company is planning to remake Telugu Super Hit 'Arya' starring Allu Arjun. Balasekaran, who had directed the hit movies 'Love Today' and 'Arya' (Tamil), is directing the remake.

The producers had long back approached Dhanush to act in the movie. The hero gave his consent with a condition. He told them that he would decide his remuneration for the film after seeing the results of 'Polladhavan'.

Now that 'Polladhavan' is declared a hit, Dhanish has raised his salary to 3 Crore. It is known from the reliable sources that the producers have accepted to pay him the amount. It has effectively propelled Dhanush into the big bracket.

Balasekaran is known for making poignant films with commercial aspects. He has now chosen a hit movie and has roped in a hero who has market value. So we can expect a hit movie from him soon.

A journalist praying for 'Oram Po' success

Babu Kamaraj, a journalist cum writer, has nothing to do with Arya-Pooja starrer 'Oram Po'. But he is praying for the success of the film. Reason? He has told a story to the producers of 'Oram Po' A.B. Film Gardens and got the nod. The villain turned hero Karan too has heard the story and he is said to have impressed.

The producers are likely to start the project if 'Oram Po' does well at the box office. Hence Babu is praying all the gods to make the film success.

Since 'Oram Po' directed by Pushkar and Gayathri is doing well, Babu is likely to get the chance to wield the megaphone for the same producers.

'Billa' ready for Dec 14 release

The decks are cleared for Ajith’s much awaited film 'Billa', for December 14 release. The movie, directed by Vishnuvardhan, has been censored and given a U/A certification. The movie is jointly produced by 'Ananda' Suresh and Ayngaran International.

Pyramid Saimira, who has procured the distribution rights, is all set for the worldwide release of the film on December 14.

The rumours made round last week saying that Yuvan Shankar Raja had not completed the RR of the movie and hence the release of the movie would get delayed. It was even said that the release would be postponed to Pongal. The rumour, however, has proved to be wrong.

'Billa' is released in a week where there is no other release. Later this month, Christmas and New Year holidays could well boost the business of 'Billa'.

Pirivom Santhippom: Star studded function

The star studded function marked the launch of the music track of 'Pirivom Santhipom' held in Santham Cinemas in Chennai on December 9. Vijay and Prabhu Deva released the audio. Rama Narayanan, Kaliapili G. Sekaran, Abhirami Ramanathan, Parthiban, Madhavan, Vidyasagar, and Dharani, were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.

Vijay, who is known for brief speech in public forum, delivered a relatively longer one. He was all in praise for Cheran, for his distinguished efforts to make good films. He also expressed his willingness to act in Cheran’s film.

Cheran revealed that he could not make a film featuring Vijay despite the fact that the star had given him call sheet for a movie titled 'Pokkisham'. “The delay in making the Autograph was the reason for not being able to make use of his call sheet”, said Cheran. He too expressed his eager to direct Vijay. “I want the Tamil people to see you in a different profile”.

Parthiban’s speech was full of praise on the film and the heroine Sneha. We could see Sneha blushing while Parthiban went on heaping laurels on her beauty and her amazing smile. He also had some words to praise for Cheran for his dedication, down to earth attitude, and hard work.

The song screened in the function portrayed a grand marriage of family belonging to Karaikkudi Chettiyar community. Abhirami Ramanathan revealed that he too belonged to the community and requested everyone belonging to the community to view the film.

The Vidyasagar musical has the stamp of his melody. The film will hit the halls on Pongal.

Indiralohathil: Vijay, Suriya, and Silambarasan

It was a memorable and one of the rare occasions in Kollywood. It was a function that witnessed the gathering of leading young stars on the same dais. Vijay, Suriya, and Silambarasan attended the audio launch function of 'Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan', along with Cheran and Parthiban.

The highlight of the function was that the audio was released in the presence of the children from Little Flower School (a school for children with visual as well as hearing impairments). The children were thrilled to be with the stars.

Vijay’s presence came as a surprise, as his name was not figured in the invitation. But he made it a point to attend the function to honor the personal request of the producer Manikkam Narayanan.

Suriya expressed his admiration for Vadivelu, who came up in the field through hard work. “Initially he was doing small and sundry roles for his survival. Now a film becomes hit if he dons just a small role in the film”, said Suriya.

Cheran, the hero of the other function held in the same complex (audio release of 'Pirivom Santhipom' in which he plays the lead role), came to this function and rendered a few words in praise of Vadivelu.

Parthiban heaped laurels on Vadivelu. He also praised the awesome sets created for the movie. Silambarasan attributed the success of Vadivelu to his dignified approach. “He has never insulted anybody in the name of comedy”, said the young hero.

Director Thambi Ramayya gave a brief account of the film, while sharing his experience with the making of this film featuring Vadivelu in three different roles.

Vadivelu thanked everyone for their complements and support. He shared his experience of handling the mythological characters in his inimitable style.

The songs that were screened in the function were tuneful and spectacular, to say the least. Music director Sabesh Murali and art director Thotta Tharani have done wonders.

The film is slated for Pongal release.

He did not accept to have a dupe to act in the scene, which is highly risk to perform.

It is not surprising that Ajith, with an amazing mix of affection and brave heart, has stolen everyone’s heart in the unit. They firmly believe that the movie would do the same magic with the audience as well.

Nayantara, the fitness streak

Nayantara is one of the rare Tamil actresses, who maintain their figure intact. The secret behind the fitness of 'Billa' heroine is nothing but proper diet and regular work out. She never skips exercise even amidst hectic schedule.

In Malaysia, she was allotted a room in the same hotel – Hotel Legend – where Ajith was staying. She made it a point to go to the gym every day.

It is said that the girl with an enviable figure has appeared in stunningly glamourous looks in the film. The trailer shows how she has uninhibitedly carried herself with confidence in glamourous outfits. The visuals clearly show that the girl definitely adds to the stylish look of the film.

When the furious girl turns towards the direction from which the ball came, the kids run away and the innocent Vishal is caught with a bat in his hand. Ajith and Shalini’s gesture

It was a surprise that Ajith came to ‘Evano Oruvan’ premiere show with his wife Shalini, who is carrying a child. This is ninth month and hence everyone was surprised to see the erstwhile actress attending the premiere.

When queried about this, Ajith said that Madhavan came to his house and invited them for the premiere. He insisted that both should attend the premiere show. "It was because of his affectionate invitation we decided to come", said Ajith.

The young couple, came in black dress, was the center of attraction in the premiere show held in Sathyam Cinemas on December 6 at 10 PM. The movie is released today (Dec 7) all over the world.

Silambattam begins

Silambarasan’s Silambattam is formally launched today (Dec 7) at AVM studios. The movie will see a new Silambarasan donning the role of a temple priest.

It is surprising to note that, Simbu, with the image of playboy, playing such a sober character. But Silambarasan has a reason. "When you are so young, you can attract many, especially youngsters, by playing negative characters. But, as you grow and get recognized by all, you have to be careful in choosing your roles. So I have chosen to act in the roles that would attract everyone", said Silambarasan in the press meet that followed the launch function.

But don’t jump to the conclusion that Silambattam would be a sober film. It has its share of thrilling actions and enticing romance, clarifies Silambarasan.

The movie has two heroines. One is Sanna Khan, a model from Mumbai. Other heroine is yet to be finalized.

Saravanan, who has been handling the camera for many acclaimed directors like Vikraman and Suresh Krishana, is donning a different role in the film. He wields the megaphone for the film.

Simbu is all praise for the director. "When stunt master Kanal Kannan asked me to hear the story that Saravanan had in his mind, I was quite skeptical. But after hearing the story I was very much impressed. The way he narrated the story was stylish", says Silambarasan.

The hero, who is also a director, has assured that he would not interfere in the director’s job.

Surprisingly, Saravanan is not doing the cinematography for his movie. His friend and long time colleague Mathi is handling the camera. "I want to fully concentrate in the movie", says Saravanan.

The backdrop of Silambaattam will be both village and city. The movie will have John Vijay (‘Oram Po’ fame) playing the villain.

It is not a remake of MGR film with the same title. It is a story of a young man who searches for the right girl in his life. The movie is directed by Cheran’s protégé Jagannath.

"The five love episodes in the movie have been told in humorous way", says the director. Jagannath has earlier directed movies including Puthiya Geethai and Kodambakkam. The movie, according to the director, will be a romantic entertainer.

Pasupathy and Nithin Sathya play important roles in the movie. Pasupathy plays a visually impaired man, who helps the protagonist in many ways.

Vidyasagar scores the music and Rajesh Yadav handles the cinematography.

The movie is produced by Moser Baer and Blue Ozone Entertainment.

The morning newspapers flashed the news about Silambarasan’s injury. The young hero, who attended the launch function of his forthcoming movie Silambattam, clarified that it was only a minor injury.
